Book Review: The Griffin's Mate
Updated: Sep 20

I've finally got onto my indie TBR list! 📖 Applause please.
(I also wrote this ENTIRE post just for Insta to say "we can't post your photo". So, sorry, this is the sloppy take).
Book Review 🪽The Griffin's Mate by Zoe Chant
It's a cosy coastside romance with Father Brown small town style drama. Minus the murder. And the father...s. Set in NZ, so maybe Brokenwood is a better reference.

🥧 Sweet as pie....or maybe chowder in this case.
We get that cinnamon role hero as promised in Harrison.
We get a mostly competent woman in Lainie who DOES easily accept magic and true love despite the blurb. . . But I wouldn't hold it against her. (I'd be like yep chill too).
The Spice level is the most mildest vanilla that I honest-to-skies think this is intentionally crafted as a hold-your-hand open door starter. Something you'd give a puritan friend to ease them off "duty". Or your teenager daughter as an introduction to the "idea" of sex.
It's giving: basic mechanics only cinema sex scene.
I would be concerned if not for the fact Zoe Chant has written A LOT of books, including sapphics under Maria Cardon—none of which I've read—but I'm gonna take it as a deliberate choice here.
Would recommend if you like the "all comfort little hurt" ones; new to open door and a little skittish; or just need a cute quick fix to get you through the day.
